Between April 2003 and June 2004, $12 billion in US currency - much of it belonging to the Iraqi people - was shipped from the Federal Reserve to Baghdad, where it was dispensed by the Coalition Provisional Authority. Some of the cash went to pay for projects and keep ministries afloat, but, incredibly, at least $9 billion has gone missing, unaccounted for, in a frenzy of mismanagement and greed.

Cheney Aide Threatened Terror To Silence DoJ Lawyer

When Goldsmith cautioned that the NSA eavesdropping program was a potential violation of the FISA court, shortly before controversy about the issue erupted in the media, Addington scorned him with the threat of a new 9/11, screeching, “We’re one bomb away from getting rid of that obnoxious [FISA] court."

Likewise, when Goldsmith raised questions about another administration policy, Addington rebuked him with vitriol, stating, “If you rule that way, the blood of the hundred thousand people who die in the next attack will be on your hands.”

Addington was basically threatening the consequence of terror if Goldsmith erected any roadblocks to stymie the Neo-Con's political agenda - using the threat of terror to achieve a political objective - which is the very definition of terrorism.

Fox News and Sean Hannity tried to discredit Ron Paul last night after the latest debate by claiming the Texas Congressman's runaway success in the subsequent text messaging poll was due to "Paulites" flood voting, when in fact only one vote per phone number was allowed.

The desperation of the Neo-Cons and the establishment to ridicule Ron Paul again highlights the sheer terror that they are experiencing in light of the fact that a real candidate communicating about real issues is putting the rest of the shills to shame.

And that in a nutshell is the problem - does the state secrets privilege protect even unconstitutional state behavior? If the only requirement to assert the privilege, as the government claims, is that a judge - in secret, of course - determine the existence of a secret program, no constitutional analysis need follow. Under this logic, national security will always trump the Bill of Rights.
